The Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Belgium highlighted on Monday in Rabat their shared determination to elevate their bilateral relationship to a strategic level, grounded in enhanced political dialogue, dynamic economic cooperation and close coordination on regional and international issues.
Following their talks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, MFA Nasser Bourita, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Maxime Prévot, highlighted the strength of the historic ties linking Rabat and Brussels, nurtured by a well-integrated Moroccan community in Belgium and by dense human exchanges.
The two senior officials welcomed the quality of the bilateral political dialogue, marked by renewed trust and a shared determination to carry out cooperation within the framework of a forward-looking and complementary approach. They expressed their commitment to further structuring consultation mechanisms in order to support the evolution of the two countries’ strategic priorities.
On the economic front, the two ministers agreed to encourage investment and partnerships in high value-added sectors, particularly energy transition, sustainable infrastructure, the green economy, and industrial innovation. They also underscored Morocco’s role as a gateway to the African continent and Belgium’s position as a strategic European hub.
At the multilateral level, Rabat and Brussels reaffirmed their attachment to effective multilateralism, respect for international law, and the promotion of negotiated political solutions to regional crises. Both parties stressed the importance of enhanced coordination within international forums, particularly on issues related to security, climate, and development.
MFA Bourita and Mr. Prévot also agreed to strengthen parliamentary and institutional exchanges, as well as contacts between economic and academic stakeholders, in order to consolidate a modern, balanced, and innovation-oriented partnership, reflecting the depth of a friendship set to grow further in the years ahead.
