As of Now… No Senegalese Appeal Confirms Morocco as Africa’s Champion

Attempts to cast doubt on Morocco’s continental triumph continue, fueled by inaccurate claims suggesting that the title has been “suspended” or “frozen” by judicial decision. However, the available legal evidence unequivocally refutes these assertions, confirming that Morocco remains, to date, the official and definitive African champion.

Contrary to widespread circulation, no judicial authority—including the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)—has issued any ruling suspending or annulling Morocco’s title. This body, the highest international sporting judicial authority, can only intervene following a formal appeal submitted through established procedures—a step that has not occurred so far.

In this context, reliable sources confirm that the Senegalese Football Federation has not filed any appeal or legal challenge with CAS. This means that reports of “ongoing legal proceedings” are purely speculative or inaccurate, lacking any legal basis.

This fact is particularly significant, as any sports dispute of this nature must follow clear procedural steps: submitting an appeal within the legal timeframe, confirming its admissibility, and then reviewing the merits. In the absence of these steps, the decision issued by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)—including Morocco’s crowning as champion—remains valid and binding.

Beyond the immediate dispute, this controversy raises broader concerns about the proliferation of false information in sports, especially surrounding high-profile match outcomes. Social media has become fertile ground for exaggerating rumors in the absence of verification from official sources, influencing public perception and creating unnecessary confusion.

Observers agree that resolution in such matters should rest solely with the competent institutions, free from speculation or subjective interpretations. International sports law is clear: results and titles can only be contested through official channels and within specified deadlines, supported by conclusive evidence.

Based on all the above, the legal situation is clear: Morocco is Africa’s champion, with no ongoing judicial dispute at this time. Any potential change to this status would depend entirely on formal legal proceedings that have not even been initiated.
